When it comes to children sleep problems, we typically associate this with the childs age. Children should sleep soundly, long enough, to ensure proper physical and mental growth, and emotional stability. Children will often times not feel so good if they do not ge the right amount of sleep. They become susceptible to infection and easily slip into depression. They get hurt often while playing because their reflexes are not good enough when they are not rested. Not getting enough sleep at night causes considerable mental fatigue, and memory and concentration suffer. On the other hand, when it comes to children sleep problems, this may sound strange, but missing a couple of hours of sleep every night may even lead to obesity as well.
Now, the experts promise us that the children sleep problems, of the kind we usually see, are quite treatable. So, it’s certainly not a hopeless situation when thinking about how to solve your child’s sleep problems. Often times if you can just adjust the daily schedule, then you can help them develop some good sleep habits. On the other hand, if you happen to have too much or not enough structure, then this can impact their sleep pattern. So, if your children get caught up with way too many activities at school, then chances are they will end up losing some sleep at night.
There was a time when kids were just kids – no responsibilities, and lots of fun playing good old schoolyard games that had little stress. So, it appeared that the children had no problems sleeping. Also, it’s probably safe to say that they had fewer distractions as well, which meant that they where able to get enough sleep. But, with all the new technology these days, it seems to have some effect on our sleep habits. With all of the exciting things going on with the TV and PC, who wants to go to bed early these days? There are magic times to be had on the Internet with basically every device around the child – from a wristwatch to a cellphone.
The worst part is that these diversions are bed-time intrusions and with the screens being in the bedromms, they can often times cause sleeping problems. There are some studies that indicate our brain interprets the light emitted by the TV or the monitor screen as daylight and, as a result, impedes itself in the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone. So, the feeling of softly slipping into soothing sleep is not for our kids anymore. Additionally, it children continue to have problems with sleeping, this can possibly develop into a chronic problem as well.
So, is it past hope when dealing with children sleep problems? Well, I think as long as you are determined to help your child solve any problem that they have, then anything is conceivable. You need to consider taking out the Tv and computer from the bedroom or at least have certain hours that they can be on. Also, you might even consider that they will not be allowed to turn them on until their homework is complete. In addition, they should probably be require to go out and play awhile to help them get tired. A relaxing bath in warm, warm water before going to bed should help some with sleep problems in children. The warm bath as well as lots of loving care can help with putting children to sleep at night, assuming that they don’t have any medical issues. Now, if you are still having some problems trying to put your child to sleep, then maybe seeing a doctor is the next step.
